In the South, days are often measured by productivity—how much we checked off a list. But in the North, Ulluunvut is measured by presence. Did we feel the wind change? Did we notice the snow’s texture? Did we share a story, a meal, a moment of silence?

Ulluunvut is the moment the sun hesitates over the horizon in the deep cold of winter. It is the endless blue-gold of a midnight sun in July. It is the stretch of light that gives a hunter enough time to follow a trail, or the fading glow that tells a family it is time to gather inside.
