The first 512 bytes were normal: the Sony copyright string, the magic "PS2" header, the usual bootstrap routines. Then, at offset 0x8200, the binary deviated. Instead of assembly opcodes, there were 2,048 bytes of pure, repeating ASCII: still running on battery
