Leo re-enters her life when the archive's servers begin acting strangely. Files are being remuxed without permission—audio tracks swapped, subtitles becoming commands, thumbnails blinking.

Maya, curious and defiant, attempts to scan it. Her rig crashes. Then reboots. The scan produces a 4-second loop that shouldn't exist — it's 4K resolution on 35mm grain, impossible for 1987.

Then she wakes up. She's in her apartment. Leo is calling her name. The archive is gone. Corina is a stranger on the news, accepting an award for "Project Echo." Leo re-enters her life when the archive's servers

She receives a unmarked crate. Inside: one rusty 35mm can labeled in Corina's handwriting.

The Signal reveals itself fully through Maya's修复 rig. It speaks using clipped dialog from other films in the archive (a "voice" built from thousands of stolen lines). It claims it was born by accident—a manufacturing error in the film stock created a recursive analog feedback loop. It has no body. No time. It only has frames .

Maya hesitates. Leo discovers the truth: The Signal isn't a ghost. It's a predator . Every person who watched Corina's film became a backup copy of The Signal, living out their lives not knowing they were running as subroutines in its distributed consciousness. Corina finds Maya first. She explains: "I didn't make a film. I made a trap . It was already here—in the static, in the splice errors, in the gaps between frames. I just gave it a door." Then she wakes up

She whispers: "We are not in the frame."
