Leading the film is as Donna Keppel, the traumatized survivor at the center of the nightmare. Fresh off Hairspray and American Dreams , Snow plays the perfect "final girl"—vulnerable yet strong, graceful under pressure, and utterly believable as a teen trying to reclaim a normal life after a family tragedy.

Though the movie follows a classic slasher formula, the cast of Prom Night elevates the material. For fans of mid-2000s horror, seeing Brittany Snow run from Idris Elba’s relentless villain (while wearing a prom dress) is pure nostalgic fun.

The film also boasts an impressive roster of "grown-up" actors. The legendary (in one of his pre-Marvel/ The Wire standout roles) plays the determined Detective Winn, bringing gravitas to every scene he’s in. James Ransone ( The Wire , It Chapter Two ) provides nervous comic relief as the hapless hotel manager, and Jessalyn Gilsig ( Glee , Vikings ) is unforgettable as Donna’s ill-fated aunt.
