This is not an episode for the faint of heart. It is the bottom of the abyss for Jamie Fraser, a descent so complete that Season 2 will spend half its run trying to climb back out. The episode’s most infamous sequence is not the torture, but the aftermath. Randall, having broken the body, now seeks to break the spirit. He has Jamie chained to a bed, naked and vulnerable.
