And then the playlist looped. Channel 1 started to play. It was Succession again. But the characters weren’t saying their lines. They were speaking in unison, looking directly at the camera, repeating the last thing Noura had said out loud five minutes ago.
The satellite dish on the roof of the Al-Hashemi compound was a relic, a gray ghost pointing at a dead sky. For ten years, it had fed the family a diet of the same three hundred channels. But tonight, Noura was tired of ghosts.
“For the fire stick,” the message read. “OSN+. Everything.”
