It might be about time travel, the Fibonacci sequence in Shakespeare, or the fact that the CIA killed Kurt Cobain using a subliminal frequency hidden in a Barney the Dinosaur episode. The Systematizer’s book is not a story; it is a proof. The prose is dense, filled with diagrams, footnotes that refer to other footnotes, and a cast of characters that includes the author himself as a persecuted hero. The manifesto of the Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski ( Industrial Society and Its Future ), is a perfectly logical, brilliantly argued, utterly insane text. It is also a blueprint for murder. The literary world has a hard time with this. We want our crazies to be lovable, like crying about the Dharma Bums. We don’t want them building bombs. nut jobs author
