Publishers want to kill the "National Emergency Library." Bots are scraping the site to train AI models without permission. The Archive is bleeding money and bandwidth. The legal fees will pile up
Using the Wayback Machine, I pulled a snapshot from October 12, 2006. The CSS was broken. The images were missing. But the text was there. Ryan’s snarky, pre-smugness voice was perfectly preserved in plain HTML.
So here is my challenge to you: Go to the Wayback Machine. Search for something stupid. Search for your old MySpace profile. Search for a news article from 2003 that got deleted. Search for "The Office season 2 blog."
