She grabbed her mom’s laptop. But how? There was no shiny button on the screen.

Lily typed into the search bar. A small window popped open. At first, the screen was black. She frowned. Then she saw a tiny light blink on next to the screen’s top edge.

Lily wanted to show her grandmother the tiny birdhouse she had built from popsicle sticks. "I’ll take a picture and email it to her!" she said.

Lily typed her grandmother’s email, attached the photo, and wrote: "Look what I made. I took this picture with my computer!"

"Hello, little lens," Lily giggled.

The screen flashed white for a second. A new thumbnail appeared in the corner. She clicked it.

She held the birdhouse up. In the computer window, she could see her own messy hair, the bookshelf behind her, and the birdhouse in her hands. She smiled wide.

Then her brother Max walked by. "You need an app," he said. "Look for the Camera."
