I pulled the power cord. Popped the battery. Counted thirty seconds. Replaced the battery. Opened Device Manager. Saw the yellow triangle. Opened an admin command prompt.

I’d spent three hours already. Downloads from the manufacturer’s archive were dead links. The generic Realtek package refused to install. Windows Update, that eternal spin of false hope, found nothing.

But the internet worked. Perfectly. Impossible speeds.

I typed ping 8.8.8.8 . Reply from 169.254.0.1: Destination host unreachable.

Other computers.

One of them was URAGAN-NODE-01 . That one had shared a folder called VOICES .

I don’t know Morse code. But I recorded it on my phone before the battery finally died at sunrise.
