Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker that is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), chest pain (angina), and certain types of irregular heartbeat (arrhythmias). It works by relaxing the muscles of your heart and blood vessels.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed dose.

Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have taken too much of this medication. An overdose of diltiazem can cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and rapid heart rate.
