This is where I stopped playing. In v1.01, your character has a "radio." In v1.0, it’s just for mission briefings. Here, if you stand still for 20 seconds, the radio picks up static. But slowly, under the static, you hear a voice. It isn't English. It isn't a monster growl. It sounds like a human being trying to speak backwards while underwater. I ran a spectrogram analysis on my capture footage. It formed a waveform that looked suspiciously like a topographical map of the developer’s hometown. Coincidence? Probably. But it freaked me out enough to pull the plug. If you ever see this cartridge in the wild, buy it
Alien Quest v1.01 is not "better" than the final version. It’s broken, unfair, and the frame rate drops to single digits whenever you fire the plasma rifle. But it has soul . Lost in the Zapper: Rediscovering the Haunting Glitches
